Formula One makes it’s ninth visit to the Red Bull Ring since the track returned to the schedule in 2014. On seven of those occasions it has hosted the Austrian Grand Prix, while on the other two occasions – including this weekend’s race – it has been the Styrian Grand Prix.

Mercedes have been the dominant force at the Red Bull Ring since 2014, with six wins from the eight races held there in that time – or 75%. The other two races have been won by Red Bull and Max Verstappen. Each driver who has won at the Red Bull Ring since 2014 has done so twice. Nico Rosberg won in 2014 and 2016, Lewis Hamilton won in 2016 and in 2020 (Styria), Valtteri Bottas won in 2017 and 2020 (Austria) and Verstappen won in 2018 and 2019.

It’s Bottas who leads the way for most podiums though, with five since 2014. 2021 championship rivals Hamilton and Verstappen both have four podiums each. The Red Bull Ring has been a fairly happy hunting ground for Ferrari, it’s drivers have appeared on the podium on six occasions – Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen and Charles Leclerc twice each.

Four different drivers have won pole position at the Red Bull Ring, Bottas and Hamilton both currently on three poles each with Felipe Massa and Charles Leclerc taking one pole each. 26 different drivers have scored at least one point at the track since 2014, including 15 from the 2021 grid. Hamilton and Bottas are the only two drivers to have scored more than 100 points at the Red Bull Ring, Hamilton 120 and Bottas 110.

So far in the 2021 season, only three drivers have completed all 433 race laps – Hamilton, Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz. Somewhat unsurprisingly after having had to retirements, it’s Bottas who has completed the fewest amount of race laps this year – 351. Of the teams it’s McLaren who have the most race mileage, with 864 laps out of 866 completed.

Verstappen has led 261 laps this year, more than double his title rival Hamilton – 122. Between them they have led 88.45% of the season so far. While he may not have led any laps in 2021, Lando Norris has finished higher than his grid position in every race so far and has scored points in each round. He is the only driver on the grid to do this.
